This Fenix Headlamp Will Light Up Your Trail Life
With 1600 lumens, smart fit, and switchable beams, the Fenix is a sleek trail headlamp that punches well above its weight.
There’s nothing quite like hitting the trails in the pitch black. It’s where your senses sharpen, and your gear really proves its worth.
I took the Fenix HM65R-T V2.0 Rechargeable Headlamp out on a few pre-dawn runs, and I’m honestly not sure how I managed without it before.

What won me over first was how lightweight it felt with the magnesium alloy body (sitting at 53g) not weighing my head down at all, and the wide, easily adjustable SPORT fit headband meant no bounce and no fuss, featuring a rotating dial to allow tightening and loosening – brilliant! Together, with battery and headband, the weight came in at 140g, and I barely noticed I was wearing it, which is exactly what I want on a long or technical trail.

But the real magic is in the beam. With dual LEDs pumping out up to 1600 lumens and 170m of beam distance, the cool white light cuts clean through darkness while the warm white is perfect when you don’t want to blind your running buddies or fry your night vision. Swapping between them was easy, even with my gloves on.

Battery life? Exceptional. With two optional power sources, I got multiple runs in one charge on the 3400mAh battery; recharging via USB-C is quick and painless. Plus, the battery indicator gives peace of mind when you’re far from the car park.
Bonus points for the ever-subtle emergency whistle built into the headband, a clever safety feature that thankfully I haven’t had to use.
With three colours to choose from (Nebula, Black, and Dark Purple), the Fenix HM65R-T V2.0 is more than just a headlamp. It’s a solid trail companion.
So if you’re heading into the dark, this one’s a no-brainer.
