Osprey Duro 6 Hydration Vest Review: Comfort Without Compromise

If the best hydration vest is the one you forget you’re wearing, the Osprey Duro 6 makes a strong case for itself with a secure fit, smart storage and barely-there comfort on the move.

A good hydration vest feels like a snug hug. A poorly designed one reminds you it’s there every step of the way. The Osprey Duro 6 Run Hydration Vest is one of those vests you quickly forget you’re wearing, which is exactly what you want.

Easy To Access On The Move

Straight up, the hydration is well sorted with two 500ml soft flasks sitting up front in secure, easy-access pockets. The flasks sit snugly and stay stable on the move, making it easy to grab a drink without breaking rhythm. If you prefer running with a bladder, the Duro 6 is reservoir-compatible (sold separately), which adds flexibility for longer outings or warmer days.

Smart Storage Without The Bulk

I was impressed by how thoughtfully the storage is laid out. With plenty of stretch pockets on the front for gels and small essentials, plus a vertical-zip pocket that keeps valuables secure, I never had to stop and dig around for anything. Around the back, there’s enough space for a lightweight jacket or spare layer, which makes it well suited to long training runs or unpredictable trail conditions.

Stable Fit Without The Bounce

The standout for me was the fit and stability of this vest. There’s a stretch back panel and dual sternum straps that help keep everything close to the body and once dialled in, the vest sits securely with very little movement.

Although the Duro 6 is marketed as a men’s vest, the adjustable fit worked well for me as a smaller runner, and it felt comfortable even when loaded up.

Built For Long Runs

I took it out for a long run on a humid day on my local trails and it was an absolute dream to use—no annoying bounce and I didn’t feel sweaty under the vest.

The capacity sits in that useful middle ground—enough room for long runs and everyday trail missions without feeling bulky. Ultra runners chasing maximum storage might want something larger, but for most outings the Duro 6 strikes a practical balance.

I had the chance to run in the Sandy Grey vest, but for runners in Australia and New Zealand, black will be the mainstay colour option with more colours expected down the track.

Simple, stable and easy to run with, the Osprey Duro 6 is a vest that does exactly what you want it to do: carry the essentials and let you get on with the run.
