There’s a moment after the final mile of a race, or the last gruelling kilometre of a trail day, when your feet finally get to breathe. You shed your running shoes and socks, and crave nothing so much as the freedom to let your toes splay, your arches decompress, and your soles soften. The ApreTrail Slide feels like it was built for exactly that moment – the triumphant exhale after suffering.

Slip them on, and the first thing I noticed was how cushy and forgiving the ULTRA-COMF foam footbed is. It’s like my soles were sinking into a soft, mattress with its immediate cushioning, enough to relieve all previous impact from pounding the trails, yet firm enough to support arches and heels without letting the feet collapse.

That softness matters because after hours outside, we all know how the feet swell, tighten, and crave extra space. Recovery sandals, or slides, like the ApreTrail don’t trap your feet the way runners or hiking shoes do – they let your toebeans breathe and splay naturally to ease out all post-run tension.

On top of comfort, the ApreTrail Slide offers practical touches that make post-race life easier, so it’s lightweight, easy to slip on, and its outsole has enough grip thanks to rubberised pods to handle uneven surfaces if you need to wander around the finish line village or last aid station.

I have them in the Cherries Jubilee colour and, not gonna lie, they make me crave a cherry-vanilla gelato. Other colours if you’re not wanting something bright to make a bold statement, include Birch (which is like a beige or cream), Black, Ballard Blue, and Lupine (pink). But beyond the playful shade, the real win is what they do for tired legs, including letting circulation gently return and giving achy arches a well-deserved break.

For all trail runners, having a slide like this is almost a rite of passage post-finish line.
In short, the Teva ApreTrail Slide isn’t about performance for racing. It’s about performance for recovery. It’s about that first step out of a racing shoe – letting worn-out, tired feet reset, and maybe even fall in love with walking again.
