Podcasts to keep you running

I love a good podcast. I’m always listening to something on my run – yep, I’m one of those people. Hey, I have a young child who reigns supreme over the TV and now my portable speaker – my runs are the only chance I get to consume any kind of content not designed for the under 10s!

So, I thought I’d put together a list of my favourite podcasts. They’re in no particular order – well, apart from being grouped into running and non-running related, of course! You’ll see there are many more non-running related podcasts in my list, and the running ones are more feature-y and interview-based rather than an hour of tips from a coach (yawn).

If you have any other favourites, I’d love to hear from you – I’m always searching for new ‘uns!

Running-related:

Dirt Church Radio, a New Zealand-based trail-running podcast by Matt Rayment and Eugene Bingham with new episodes weekly.

The Trail Runners Experience, an Aussie podcast with Daniel Farrugia and Ashley Druve.

Humans of Ultrarunning with “Queen of 200s” race director Candice Burt.

Ultrarunnerpodcast with Eric Shranz – a US-based podcast with news, reviews, interviews and brews from around the world.

Pushing the Limits with NZ endurance runner extraordinaire Lisa Tamati, who interviews high achievers and experts in sport, business, health and science.

Non-running related:

Disgraceland, a true crime podcast about musicians getting away with murder and behaving very badly, by Jake Brennan.

Freakonomics Radio discusses socioeconomic issues with great empathy, insight, humour and wit with journalist Stephen Dubner.

Serial (in particular, Series 1) unfolds one true story over the course of a whole season with many twists and turns.

S-Town, from the makers of Serial, this follows the eccentric life of John McLemore and a supposed murder in a small town in Alabama. It starts off as one thing and ends up another. A stunning podcast.
